Natural Instinct Natural Sunscreen SPF30 range uses Zinc Oxide as the active UV blocker ingredient. Zinc Oxide is a physical blocker that reflects harmful UVA and UVB rays. It functions like a ‘mirror’ on your skin and is a naturally sourced mineral and is widely used in the sun protection industry.
We recommend shaking the product well before every use. This product contains naturally derived ingredients and therefore requires shaking to ensure consistent protection. Zinc Oxide particles can on occasion form together in between use but when rubbed into the skin they should apply evenly.
Apply liberally and evenly onto dry skin 20 minutes prior to sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and at regular intervals especially after swimming, exercise or towel drying. Always wear protective clothing including a hat and sunglasses. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Use a generous amount of sunscreen. The average-sized adult should apply 1 teaspoon of sunscreen (5mL) per limb (arms, legs, front torso, back, face/neck including ears). That is 7 teaspoons (35mL) of sunscreen for one full body application.
The sunscreen formulations are self-preserving systems with a 100% oil based formulation that self-preserves due to the absence of water.
Sunscreen should also be stored below 30 degrees.
It is strongly recommended that for children the primary means of sun protection should be hats, clothing, shade and avoiding the sun during the parts of the day when UV levels are at their highest. Sunscreen products such as Kids Natural Sunscreen SPF30 should be the secondary method of protection for young children.
For children under 12 months, we recommend avoiding exposure to the sun. If sun exposure cannot be avoided, make sure the child is wearing clothing, a hat and is protected from direct sunlight and apply Natural Instinct Sunscreen to those areas not covered by hats or clothing.
Yes all of the Natural Instinct Sunscreen products are 3 hours water resistant.
However it is important to reapply every 2 hours and at regular intervals especially after swimming, exercise or towel drying. Always wear protective clothing including a hat and sunglasses. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
The type of Zinc Oxide used in the Kids Natural Sunscreen works as a physical blocker that reflects harmful UVA and UVB rays and can leave a translucent white layer on your skin. This formulation uses a larger Zinc Oxide particle size which is not as transparent as smaller particle sized zinc oxide. This easy to apply formulation leaves a visible white protective layer on the skin so you can see where the sunscreen has been applied. It is suitable for children’s delicate skin and provides protection while they have fun in the sun. Refer to our directions for use above.
In order for Sunscreens to provide SPF 50 broad-spectrum protection Chemical UV filters are needed in the formulation. It is currently not possible to achieve SPF50+ protection for zinc-only sunscreen formulations.
The difference between SPF 30 and SPF 50 is a difference of 97% effectiveness versus 98% effectiveness delivering only a 1% improvement in protection.
