If you are going to have a skin break-out, it will happen on the morning of your wedding, the day of an important job interview, or on the first date. You desire flawless skin, but life inevitably dishes up a few scars that mar your skins smooth canvas. As you age, your maturity is reflected in your skin in ways you don’t want to see, with wrinkles, dryness, pigmentation and loss of suppleness – in fact, so much of your life is reflected in your skin.

One such oil seeing a resurgence in popularity is the powerful antioxidant, Rosehip Oil.
Where does Rosehip Oil come from?
Rosehip Oil is extracted from the seeds of specific wild rose bushes found in the southern Andes in South America. It is also found in a rose known as Rosa Canina located in several regions throughout South Africa and Europe.
What are the benefits of using Rosehip Oil?
Sadly the beautiful baby-soft skin you were born with detoriates over time with exposure to harmful UV rays, pollution, dehydration and free radicals. The benefits of Rose hip Oil are found in its naturally high levels of Vitamin C, Vitamin A and essential fatty acids, such as Omega-6 which counter those external stressors.
Vitamin C is nature’s super healer. It has the ability to boost your immune system and help fight disease with its antioxidant properties. Free radicals are unbalanced molecules which cause cellular damage and are one of the greatest contributors to ageing skin. Antioxidants fight free radicals reducing their ability to cause damage to your skin and body..–The Vitamin C found naturally occurring in Rosehip Oil boosts collagen production, improving your skin elasticity and accelerating the skins natural healing process. It helps to prevent and reduce scarring.
Within skincare products Vitamin A is most commonly known as Retinol. Like Vitamin C, its purpose is to protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals. It aids in the regeneration of damaged skin cells, increasing healing and helping to prevent wrinkles. Vitamin A is imperative to the production of healthy skin cells, particularly those which help to keep skin firm.
A lack of Vitamins A and C in your body can present in the form of dry, scaly, weakened and sagging skin, along with slow wound healing.
Essential fatty acids such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 are not naturally occurring in the body. For the optimum skin health you need to introduce them via your diet and your skincare regime. A diet and skincare routine high in essential fatty acids protects your skin against free radicals, promotes healthy skin cell production and improves hydration. Essential fatty acids help your skin cells to appear plumper reducing the signs of ageing such as wrinkles and loss of elasticity. Check out our buyer’s guide here.
